My husband and I would like to tile our kitchen floor. What is the best nonslip, stain resistant type of tile? My house has a constant flow of children and a pool (with wet foot traffic) in the summer. We aren’t interested in vinyl or linoleum.

I wasn’t interested in vinyl or linoleum either because I hate fake surfaces, but I threw down some groutable vinyl tile in a pinch once and it ended up being a great product

Porcelain with an indoor outdoor rating. Tile has a system for rating which uses it’s appropriate for and no brand is better to than another for being antislip if they are rated for the same use.

Whatever you choose, don’t skimp on a good sealant for the grout. Without that, you will be doing a lot of cleaning since kitchen floors get a lot of use and abuse. Grout gets dirty quickly unless it is well sealed. I personally like porcelain, but it is harder to install if you don’t have the right tools.

I fell on wet tile and broke the tiles all the way across the room. It was pouring rain and everyone was running inside. Only by a miracle did I not break my back or neck. For that reason, the only place that has real tile is in my bathroom. If tile, make sure it has some kind of indents to prevent slipping.

Non slip with a texture but it is cold and hard on the feet. Hardwood with runners is easy on the feet..
