Ty everyone for your responses.. What I needed and expected to hear.
Never seen this before… granite tile counter tops! Friends house. Came with his house. Good or bad idea for a kitchen refurb?
My parents have it. They cracked in a few tiles. Quite a bit cheaper but you do need a edge ether wood like this or Bull nose tiles $$$
Terrible. Nobody wants grout lines on their counter. Germy. Back in the early 2000’s people did this because granite slab was super spendy.
Not great for the current market, plus granite in general is considered dated much less in tile.
I mean the grout would suck to keep up on, but if you were to crack or chip one you only would have to replace that one vs the entire counter. 🤷♀️
I personally don’t like the look of it but its not the worse thing in the world.
You could dress it up a little if you have some experience working with natural stone. Bullnose, feature stripe, medallions, etc. BUT if you choose to go that direction use urethane or epoxy grout and keep the gout joints small. I’ve even seen them butted with silicone in the joints
I hate any tile countertops. Cleaning the grout is the worst! Maybe because I rented a place with long counters made of tiny white tiles and tons of grout that stained easily.
