Would you move an existing stove plug yourself, or hire someone? I want to move my stove plug from its wall spot to having it be in my center island. It’s about 3-4 feet away from its current location.
If I need to hire this out, what’s a reasonable price to pay?
As a side note, this will be part of a kitchen reno that hubby and I are doing ourselves. So floors will be removed (replacing some subfloor as well as laying new tile).
I’d say you can move it. There isn’t anything secret about doing it. If it’s getting moved further then you obviously need to add a junction.
Why do I always feel like these questions are being asked to solve a disagreement?
If it looks like you have enough wire then go for it. If the wiring is too short then call in an electrician
I would move it myself, but this is something I personally feel qualified to do. A good friend who was an electrician taught me how to safely do that sort of thing.
If it’s something you be got no experience with or don’t feel confident about, I would suggest seeking help. Bad wires cause house fires
Definitely a do it yourself kind of thing. If it was done right the first time all you have to do is turn off the breaker and move it. If you have to do a rewire, even that can be done by you if you are confident enough
